What is a dental crown?
When tooth decay or damage is more extensive, our talented dentists may suggest a dental crown as part of your personalized treatment plan. Crowns are caps or covers that completely encase teeth up to the gumline. A dental crown protects the tooth from further damage and restores its natural shape and size. Crowns are often used as a cosmetic enhancement to restore broken or decayed teeth or to support a large filling. They are especially useful in preventing a weak tooth from breaking and in holding parts of a broken tooth together. At Creekside Dental Ellensburg, we offer high-quality dental crowns in Ellensburg, Washington to restore your beautiful, healthy smile.
How is a dental crown made?
The process for making and placing a dental crown generally requires two visits to our state-of-the-art dental office. During your first visit, we will take impressions of your teeth; the impressions are sent to a dental lab, where your custom dental crown is made. This process generally takes two weeks. We will also remove the damaged portion of the tooth. Once the dental crown is made, Drs. Packard and Packard will thoroughly check to make sure it fits your bite, then cement the crown into place.
We encourage you to contact our dental office today for more information on how dental crowns can restore your smile!
